Thursday August 6th



Routine day in terms of treatment....PT and OT.  Productive, predictable.....no cartwheels yet, if you’re wondering.  🤸‍♂️ 

Had a meeting today with My “team“… Social worker, therapist, doctor and Jillian.  We discussed what my transition to home is going to look like and what some of my options will be for outpatient therapy. That can only mean one thing… getting closer to going home.  Two weeks tomorrow!

Also had a visit from cardiology this afternoon.  On my first two week Holter monitor there was one episode of ventricular tachycardia noted.  Just one more thing to keep an eye on I guess.



For dinner tonight, Jillian has prepared for us grilled chicken Caesar salad!🥗

    No doubt you will be back at this again tomorrow Adam, keep it up. Food and juice (?) looks delicious. Enjoy the golf this weekend, next year we shall visit Harding.

Wednesday July 29th Today was a great day, in a lot of ways!!!! Physio was busy, with lots of walking, and staircase work!!  The entire Physio team was thoroughly impressed as I paraded around the gym, lap after lap, like a proud peacock.  Time for some video work tomorrow so I can show my walking progress. In OT, had an assessment on left-sided mobility and functionality… They said I was progressing “spectacularly“. So that’s a good thing. All the while, The nurses were busy moving me into a new room…A room with a view!  Technically I had A view before, but it wasn’t very good.  It was into a courtyard and there was never anyone in it. Now I look due East… I can see the lake, the CNTower, and spectacular skies ALL DAY LONG! Jillian came up for a dinner date outside.... ♥️ Home with the family ♥️

 Saturday August 22nd I waited a long time for this moment.   A moment I’ll never forget.  We all cried, we all hugged, we all needed it.  Released back into the wild at 3:30 on Thursday afternoon... Jillian was there to take me home.  From the moment I went into the hospital until the moment I left, she was always there when I needed her.  I had the best welcoming committee there to greet me.  The kids made the most amazing signs and cards…  Aqua therapy has been fantastic! It has definitely been an adjustment coming home. More so than I thought it would be. The frustration of having to ask for help with everything. I mean everything.  Definitely need to take time to rest. Gone from puttering around my hospital room, to having to navigate the house and yard. Friday: A couple of errands that HAD to get done on my first full day at home… Went to the DMV with dad 😒🙄 and LensCrafters to get some new reading glasses 🤓. Not sexy but like I said...

The Beginning: a good place to start

Starting the blog! Ive often thought about starting a blog ......but what should I write about?   If you’re reading this, you know that last Thursday I suffered a stroke....things were going to be different for a while. The outpouring of support has been overwhelming.  People have been sending us messages and emails expressing their concern and support during this difficult time.   We are trying our best to keep everyone updated on my progress...and that’s when it dawned on us ....Blog about my recovery!  Seems like the easiest way to keep those that are interested, updated on my recovery. It will also be good for me to see my progress and how far I’ve come.  It will also give me something to do when I’m not busy rehabbing. So… Follow along if you’re interested. And please keep the messages of encouragement coming...they will be the fuel to my comeback! -Adam
