Sagittal FLAIR
Thought it might be interesting to show a couple pictures from my MRI that diagnosed my stroke. According to Dr. Jillian, “ The stroke occurred in the posterior limb of the right internal capsule, affecting the motor function on my left side.” Amazing how something so small and seemingly insignificant is wreaking such havoc for me, and my brain! 🧠
(Note: by convention, the patient’s right is always on the left side of the image… As confusing as that may seem.)

Clap, clap, clap.....pretty simple right? WRONG. Kathy, my physiotherapist today, wants me to practice clapping. It involves both hands equally, in total symmetry. They both work separately to come together. A task like this so repetitive, so repeatable. And very easy to see improvement, when it comes. And she stressed how important it is to laugh and giggle each time don’t succeed....because If you’re giggling, then you’re not criticizing, not condemning. And beating yourself up for not succeeding is a waste of energy...Focus more on the tiny incremental improvements over the course of time.
THAT’S WHEN THE SUCCESS COMES!
I’ve got a long way to go. 👏🏻
Looking good Adam. We are clapping for you! Nicola and family.
ReplyDeleteSeconded!!! You have an army of fans clapping (and praying) every day for you, Adam.
ReplyDeleteThis is but a brief moment, keep trying — and flashing your million dollar smile — you’ll get there! 👏🏻❤️
Adam, you are one amazing individual, as we have always known from the days at 489 Lakeshore. You have given us so many laughs over the years. Keep up the brilliant recovery. Lots of love. Mrs Collins
ReplyDeleteStep by step Adam, you will get there. Thanks for that endless smile of yours.
ReplyDeleteYou are a superstar. You're attitude is so positive. Stay patient with you! xo
ReplyDeleteNew term “giggle clap” of course could also jiggle and clap
ReplyDeleteKeep it up Adam. I like the giggling idea. Staying positive is so important no matter how frustrated you might feel. We all need to giggle more when life throws us curves.
