The Beginning: a good place to start
Ive often thought about starting a blog ......but what should I write about?
If you’re reading this, you know that last Thursday I suffered a stroke....things were going to be different for a while.
The outpouring of support has been overwhelming. People have been sending us messages and emails expressing their concern and support during this difficult time.
We are trying our best to keep everyone updated on my progress...and that’s when it dawned on us ....Blog about my recovery! Seems like the easiest way to keep those that are interested, updated on my recovery. It will also be good for me to see my progress and how far I’ve come. It will also give me something to do when I’m not busy rehabbing.
So… Follow along if you’re interested. And please keep the messages of encouragement coming...they will be the fuel to my comeback!
-Adam

ReplyDeleteAdam- I just heard about your stroke, from Anneke. I have read a few of your blog posts, and just want to say you are doing amazing. Your positive attitude, and willingness to be so open about what is happening is amazing. Praying for your full recovery to come as fast as it can.

ReplyDeleteHi Adam! This is Vivian, a friend of Anneke’s. I am also an occupational therapist who works with patients with strokes in Florida. I am so sorry to hear about this curveball you have been given. Thank goodness it spared your cognition. I’m sure you’re learning all sorts of new tricks with one hand while lefty gets back in the game. It’s so nice to hear it sounds like you have a world of support beneath you!
ReplyDeleteA couple things that has worked well With my patients is 1) electrical stimulation (with active effort from the patient as well) and 2) vibration. There’s a whole world of different therapies that has shown some benefit out there. Your brain will always have potential to rewire due to brain plasticity. It may take a lot of time and effort but never never give up! Feel free to reach out anytime my email is vipatterson@hotmail.com.
